New router or ISP
A new broadband box usually means a new Wi‑Fi name, password and sometimes a new IP range. Cameras, Ring and the alarm then need setting again. This is not a kit fault.
CCTV
If cameras use a fixed IP, that address may need changing to match the new router. Ask the ISP if you are not sure of the new LAN range.
- Powerline — move the adaptor from the old router LAN port to the new one. All three lights should be green. If not, power both ends off for 30 seconds.
- Wired — plug the LAN cable from the old router into the new one.
- Wireless extender — press WPS on the extender, then WPS on the new router within two minutes.
Ring
Use the Ring app to set the new Wi‑Fi on each doorbell or floodlight. Step-by-step: offline or new Wi‑Fi.
