Environmental / Sustainability Policy

Version 1 · Valid from 24 September 2026

Keiron Cheesbrough Ltd is a small UK telecoms and security company. We are not ISO 14001 certified and we do not run a large environmental management system. This policy is the simple standard we work to in the office, in our vans, and on customer sites.

1. Who this applies to

Everyone working for us — staff, apprentices, trainees, and subcontractors on our jobs.

2. What we do

  • Follow UK environmental law and any site rules the customer gives us.
  • Do not pollute: keep fuel, oils, solvents and waste under control.
  • Dispose of waste lawfully (including old kit, batteries and packaging). Use the right bin, skip or take-back — never fly-tip.
  • Cut unnecessary waste, packaging and empty miles where we can, without cutting safety or the quality of the job.
  • Tell the Managing Director straight away about spills, pollution, or anything that looks wrong environmentally.
  • On site: follow the RAMS, protect drains, leave the area tidy. The customer is responsible for disposing of waste from the job, unless we have specifically agreed to take it away ourselves.

3. Vans and travel

  • Keep vans maintained (Driver & Fleet checks).
  • Plan jobs sensibly so we are not driving about for no reason.
  • Do not leave engines idling for long periods without a good reason.
  • Report fuel leaks.

4. Office

  • Switch things off when not needed.
  • Recycle where the local service allows.
  • Store batteries, chemicals and fuel safely.

5. Subcontractors

Subcontractors on our jobs must follow the same rules. If there is a real concern, we will deal with it — we are too small to audit every supplier formally.

6. Concerns

Keiron Cheesbrough — info@keironcheesbrough.com / 0121 295 1925 Or Speak up on our systems. In an emergency, follow the site plan or call the emergency services / regulator.

7. Reporting and investigating environmental issues

If something goes wrong environmentally — a spill, pollution, fly-tipping risk, a near miss, or a breach of site or legal rules — tell the Managing Director straight away (see Concerns above).

We will look into what happened, keep a simple record, put right what we can, and decide what to change so it is less likely to happen again. Where the customer or the law requires it, we will also tell them.

Staff and subcontractors must not hide incidents. Raising a genuine concern will not be held against you.

8. Environmental training

Everyone who works for us on jobs that can affect the environment gets a plain briefing on this policy and what they must do (waste, spills, fuel, site rules). That happens when they start working for us, and again when this policy changes or when a job has special site rules.

Site-specific environmental points are covered in the RAMS or briefing for that job. People must be competent for the work they do — if someone is unsure, they stop and ask before guessing.

9. Review

Owner: Managing Director. Review at least yearly, or sooner if the law or a serious incident means we should.
